Telephone counselling or on-line counselling, also known as e-counselling has become increasingly popular in recent years and can be an easier and more convenient way of holding your counselling sessions. Many people find there are barriers to accessing the ‘traditional’ face to face counselling or psychotherapy, which can stop people can seeking help as soon or as often as they should. These can include: • They may not have time to travel to their counselling sessions – they are simply busy with work commitments or travel takes up a lot of time. So what would have been a 50 minute commitment becomes a 3 hour commitment taking into account travel to and from their session• Some people have difficulty with childcare. Telephone counselling can be delivered in the evenings, after your children are tucked-up in bed. • If you are off work sick, have an injury or disability it’s important to access the support that you need when you need it. Telephone counselling can help you to receive the support you need. • Some clients report that they feel more able to speak freely over the phone than in person, as they feel awkward discussing a particular topic. This often allows the therapy to progress more quickly.

What you can expect from Telephone or On-Line Counselling with Tower Counselling
When you make your first telephone or internet call to Tower Counselling, you will speak to a qualified and experienced counsellor who can offer you immediate support and advice. Part of this call will also involve an assessment of your needs. This is called a Triage Assessment. A course of telephone counselling usually consist of 6 session blocks with a review on the fifth session. They last around 50 minutes each.
Your therapist will call you on either your landline or mobile (whichever is your preference) or face to face internet call at a mutually convenient, pre-arranged time. Sessions can be provided at a time to suit you - daytime, evening and some weekend appointments are available. In much the same way as face to face counselling, it is important to dedicate your full attention to the session to get the most out of it. Find a comfortable, quiet space where you won’t be disturbed or distracted and have a pen and paper to hand. If you’re using a mobile phone, laptop or I pad, make sure the battery is fully- charged!
As with face to face sessions you will be asked to pay at the end of the session, or if easier you can pay by block payment. Tower Counselling can take payment by card, PayPal or bank transfer. Whichever is easier for you.
